Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) is about to become a mystery. The comedian and actress is set to produce and star in Netflix’s Mystery Girl, a feature film directed by McG (Terminator Salvation) and adapted from the comic created by Paul Tobin and Alberto J. Alburquerque.
Mystery Girl is about Trine, a Los Angeles street psychic who doesn’t know who she is—but she knows everything else. As Deadline explains, Trine “is guided by an omniscient VOICE in her head that knows everyone’s business and everyone’s darkest secrets.”
Trine teams up with an LAPD officer who wants to make the most of her inexplicable knowledge, but when they’re framed for murder, their focus shifts to clearing their names, and solving the mystery of Mystery Girl’s lost memory and strange abilities.
Mystery Girl is the latest adaptation to come from Dark Horse’s first-look deal with Netflix; the streaming platform has also been home to the delightful series adaptation of Gerald Way and Gabriel Bá’s Umbrella Academy, as well as the film Polar, starring Mads Mikkelson and based on the graphic novels by Victor Santos.
There’s no word yet on who will co-star with Haddish as Officer Cooper, or on production timing or release date.
